Our design process

We regularly get asked by potential clients ‘what happens’ when they work with us, so we put together this simple overview to explain the process we follow.

1.  Initial Consultation

It all starts with an initial consultation.  This is all about understanding our client; their personality, preferences, style, budget, and the scope of the project.  We spend time looking at your home; measure the space, assess lighting, and understand the structure and flow of the area.  We also discuss and agree what you want us to provide; is it colour schemes, mood boards, floor plans etc.  Before the meeting we will ask you to complete a short questionnaire to help us prepare.

2.  Concept Design

This is where the fun starts and our passion for design and creativity really kicks in!  We create mood sample boards that can include colour schemes, textures, furniture and lighting to help visualise the design.  We provide two or three mood sample boards showing different options and clients often combine things from more than one board. We can also create floor plans showing room layout options, which is really useful if the design includes furniture.

3.  Design Proposal

Once we have the mood sample boards and plans it’s time to talk. During a follow up visit we discuss the concepts on the boards and plans, making any amendments to refine the vision. Some clients agree the final design on the day but others want time to review the options. The designs really are a collaboration between you and us. The final output will be a list of items for the design that can include paints, furniture, fabrics, lights etc.

4.  Product Sourcing

Once the design is agreed we can help with ordering the paints, furnishings, fabrics etc. This includes creating shopping lists so clients can order items agreed or we can order items for you to make the whole process easy. We have several go to suppliers but are happy to scour the internet for the perfect options.

5.  Implementation

We can support the implementation of the design including ordering, coordinating deliveries, arranging trades people etc.

For that finishing touch we love to help style the space, bringing the full design to life.

6.  Final Review

Once everything is complete we like to have a final walkthrough with the client to ensure they are completely happy with the finished result.

This may sound very structured, but it's only the basic approach we use.  Every client is unique and every project we do is structured around each of our client’s individual needs.
