Two Storey Town House Extension - Market Harborough

Transforming Houses into Homes

This extension created a huge amount of extra living space. On the ground floor a new family room off the reconfigured utility had full width bi-fold doors in anthracite grey giving a modern look and great view over the garden, plus letting in lots of natural light. A painted feature wall and blue dresser with complimentary artwork added colour and vibrancy. A neutral coloured textured sofa was used that would go with any colour scheme. Pops of colour were added with cushions and a rug added pattern and warmth. As this high traffic area requires frequent cleaning, wood laminate flooring was chosen to complete the room. All walls from the hallway through into the utility and on into the family room were painted a greige colour giving a coherent feel and created a flow from one space to the next. Finally panelling was added in the hallway to add character.

On the first floor the extension enabled a significant redesign of the floor plan. The kitchen was extended and the existing lounge became a beautiful dining room leading through into a new lounge with vaulted ceiling that added height and interest together with Velux windows that added natural light. In the dining room it was important that the table and chairs didn’t look lost in a large space. To create a cosy feel and bring in the walls, a character fireplace was added at one end of the room and a dresser at the other. On the remaining walls large mirrors made the space feel bigger and added interest. A stylish chandelier above the table completed the room.
