Lounge Modernisation and Reconfiguration - Sibbertoft

Transforming Houses into Homes

Mood boards are a great way to explore colours, fabrics and finishes and these were used with the client to explore options to meet their brief.

The layout of the room was the first concern, with a door which was never used leading from the hallway into the lounge completely limiting what could go against the wall. Blocking it up was the perfect solution and allowed for a much better layout switching the focus of the room to a stunning log burner. It also allowed for a mirror or console to fit in the hallway in place of the door.

Panelling was added to the main wall with the log burner adding character and charm and finished in a beautiful greige paint. The sofas could now face the log burner which made sense as the main focal point of the room. Botanical tiles sourced for the border around the log burner and fabrics for curtains and cushions reflected the botanical theme requested by the client. Paint on the remaining walls was a light neutral colour giving a cocooning calm feel to the space.

The final piece of the jigsaw was to add a custom built bookcase wrapping around the doors from the dining room into the lounge, reflecting the client’s love of reading. These will be added when the budget allows and further pictures will be added.
